Dinner for dinner. Port Hughes, SA
I found this Tasseled anglerfish (Rhycherus filamentous) sitting against a pylon at Port Hughes Jetty. As I looked closer, I also noticed a Leatherjacket. The they both freaked out and went for a swim and I realised that they were attached to to each other. I wonder whether the angler decided that the leatherjacket would make a good dinner but made a major misjudgement!
This male Cowfish (Aracana ornata) has a parasite on his nose. The parasite will kill this fish.
A Tasseled anglerfish has acquired a parasite. It will slowly kill it.
Inside the mouth of this anemone fish is a parasite, not a baby as many people think. It will kill it.
This Hermit crab isn't doomed but I'm sure it could have found itself a nicer home!
